This year, KCPS is hosting a two-part application and registration process. The first round of applications will open December 14 at 8:00 am and will continue through February 15 to allow KCPS to process applications in preparation to offer seats. Families offered at seat in the first round must then accept their seat and complete their registration, the second part of the process. Seats will be offered, along with additional instructions for registration, the week of March 1.

You can still apply! Applications received after February 15 will be put on a wait list on a first come, first-served basis. The second round of seats will be offered after April 16.

Yes! You can apply to your neighborhood school, plus, three Signature Schools for each student.

Students may enter our Neighborhood Schools at any grade level. For our Signature Schools, each school has different entrance requirements. For Foreign Language Academy and Carver Dual Language School, students may enter at kindergarten. After kindergarten, students must demonstrate grade-level proficiency in the foreign language. For Border Star Montessori and Harold Holliday, Sr. Montessori, students are welcome to join the school in Pre-K age 3, Pre-K age 4 or kindergarten. In KCPS, Neighborhood Schools do not have additional requirements beyond those needed as part of registration. Those requirements include living within each school’s attendance boundary and vaccination records. Each Signature School does have its own set of admissions requirements. For a list of school-specific requirements, please see that school’s website or click here for a complete list.
